New Orleans Aquarium, or Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, on the banks of the Mississippi River, is one of the finest aquariums in the States. This is a world-class marine attraction with beautifully constructed exhibits.

New Orleans Aquarium invites you to a fascinating journey to the wonderful and colorful underwater world. It's home to 15,000 sea life creatures, representing nearly 600 species. Visiting New Orleans Aquarium is an enchanting time spending both for children and their parents.

Five major exhibit areas of and dozens of smaller aquariums showcase the aquatic life of North, Central, and South America. On the first floor of the New Orleans Aquarium you can walk through the underwater tunnel in the Caribbean Reef and see the Caribbean sea inhabitors, swimming all around you; or view sharks in the half-million-gallon Gulf of Mexico exhibit.

On the second floor you visit Amazon Rain Forest with its anaconda snakes, poisonous frogs and stunning exotic birds. The Seahorses Gallery of the New Orleans Aquarium showcases these beautiful and graceful creatures. You may also touch a shark, visit the Sea Otters pool, or be entertained by funny penguins.

The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas has the IMAX theater, that shows two or three films at regular intervals. The small cafe is on site, as well as wonderful gift shop.

Operating hours:
New Orleans Aquarium opens daily at 9:30; closing hours vary by season. It is closed on Christmas and Mardi Gras.

Admission fee:
Aquarium $15 adults, $11 seniors, $8 children 2-12. IMAX $8 adults, $7 seniors, $5 children. Combination aquarium/IMAX tickets $19 adults, $16 seniors, $12 children.
